Where to Eat / Drink (Part 2 of Joshua Tree travel guide)

(Note- Many restaurants here vary their hours vary seasonally so always check before you go!)

Where to Eat

A trip to Pappy and Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace in Yucca Valley is a must. Pappy’s is a relaxed place with an Old West vibe specializing in delicious southwest fare. It’s also a concert venue that books an amazing mix of national treasures like Wanda Jackson, indie godfathers like Mudhoney and the Melvins, and Internet-crushing up-and-comers.  It’s located in Pioneertown, a genuine Western movie set from Hollywood’s golden years that is always open to explore.

La Copine is the other must visor spot, you’ll have to travel off the beaten path to find this hip spot but trust me the food is so worth it!

It’s always laid back in the desert, but if you’re feeling supremely casual, pick up a smoothie & wrap from The Natural Sisters Cafe or a slice of New York-style pizza from Pie For the People and find somewhere beautiful to picnic!

Other spots in Yucca Valley:

Two Guys Pies (my fav pizza… I almost don’t want to put it on the list bc the wait is already getting too long)

Frontier (for coffee, sandwiches, and wifi)

Cali Greens (smoothies and salads and stuff)

In Joshua Tree:

Sam’s Indian Food (pretty good! and located next to Sam’s mini mart which has th best beer & wine selection in the whole high- desert area)

Crossroads Cafe (comfort food, super friendly staff)

Joshua Tree Saloon (shhh, I have never eaten here, but lotsa people do!)

In 29 Palms:

29 Palms Inn (cutest farm to table sit down dining!)

Kitchen in the Desert (so cute! So good!)

Mojave Moon Cafe (I have not been yet, you should go and tell me if it is good!)

Where to Drink

There are fun bars in town for sure, like Pappy’s and the Joshua Tree Saloon, but in my opinion, the best place to drink is at your hotel or rental property. Just pick up a six pack from Sam’s, light a fire, jump in the hot tub or pool and enjoy the peace, the stars, and the magic of the desert.  Cheers!
